I recently flew Air New Zealand, Wellington to Melbourne and return. I used the Eagle 2 Hoist, with a large sling – a very clever and capable piece of equipment. At each airport there were two personnel who were trained in the use of the hoist (Air New Zealand ground crew in Wellington, and Menzies Aviation Services in Melbourne) and that was the key to making sure that the transfers from my wheelchair at the aircraft door to my plane seat, and vice versa, went very well.
So I am pleased that I checked with you about the hoist; as armed with that information I was able to specifically request that the airline ensure that the Eagle 2 Hoist, and the large sling, and personnel trained in its use, were available at each airport for my departure or arrival.
