Haycomp – made in Australia
For over 17 years Haycomp staff have designed and manufactured high quality patient lifting hoists for use in hospitals and other care institutions.
Because of our expertise in mechanical patient handling, Qantas asked Haycomp to design a hoist to eliminate the difficult and sometimes dangerous task of manual handling passengers.
The Eagle hoists were developed and proved successful in providing a safe and efficient way of transferring specials needs passengers PRM’s (Passengers with Reduced Mobility) from a wheelchair to their aircraft seat.
The hoists provide a significant advance in accessible air travel for passengers requiring a fully supported transfer.
The Eagles are highly regarded by both staff and passengers.
Haycomp was formed in 1994 with staff skilled in advanced composites, toolmaking and manufacturing processes.
Haycomp originally located on the creative enviroment of the University of Adelaide Research Park for over 16 years has recently moved to new premises about 400 meters away.
The Adelaide area hosts strong auto and defence industries. These and other manufacturing industries support a range of quality subcontractors and suppliers.
Haycomp uses some of these subcontractors for manufacturing processes to allow us to focus on product design, assembly, quality control and customer service.

Haycomp and Qantas were jointly awarded the “Professionalism Award” by the Aviation Safety Foundation Australasia for the Eagle 2 passenger hoist. We are proud to be recognised in this way with such a prestigious award. We are also pleased to be able to offer a safe operating solution for mobility impaired passengers.
