"Using the Eagle is dream"

As a wheelchair, I always find the process of getting on and off the plane, stressful and nerve-wrecking. Being manually transferred is uncomfortable, undignified and unsafe. So when I heard about the Eagle 2 Lifter, I was so excited and instantly started looking into which airports used them. At that point my two nearest airports (Glasgow and Edinburgh) didn’t, but then in April 2016 Edinburgh became the first Scottish airport to offer their disabled passengers a choice by having the Eagle 2 Lifter available for transfers on and off the plane. I got the opportunity to onto the plance after all passengers has disembarked, the sling was then secured around me and before I know it, I was being Lifted up and out of the aircraft seat. I felt incredibly secure and comfortable then whole time even while I was wheeled out of the plane into the ambulift where I was then lowered into my wheelchair. Using the Eagle is dream compared the dreaded aisle chair. I hope all airports around the world wake up and realise the urgent need for this fantastic piece of equipment to improve disabled passengers experience while travelling.
